Getting Started
What is PracticePA? +
PracticePA is cloud-based practice-management software for accounting firms, tax advisors and consultants in Pakistan. It tracks every client’s FBR and SECP deadlines, manages tasks and documents, and handles billing — all in one place.
Who is PracticePA for? +
Sole-practitioner accountants, tax consultants and multi-partner firms in Pakistan who manage compliance and filings for a portfolio of clients.
Do I need to install anything? +
No. PracticePA is fully cloud-based and runs in any modern browser on any device — there is nothing to download, install or maintain.
How long does setup take? +
Most firms are up and running the same afternoon. You add your clients and their obligations, and PracticePA builds the deadline calendar from there.
Can I import my existing client list? +
Yes. You can bring in your existing client list so you don’t start from scratch, and add each client’s tax and statutory obligations.
Is there a free trial? +
Yes — every plan starts with a 30-day free trial and no payment details are required. You can add your clients and explore the whole platform before you commit.
Do I need technical skills to use it? +
No. PracticePA is designed for accountants, not IT staff. If you can use email and a spreadsheet, you can run your firm on PracticePA.
What do I need to add a client? +
Just the basics: client name, type (individual, AOP or company) and the obligations you handle. PracticePA then builds their deadline calendar automatically.
Can I use PracticePA as a solo practitioner? +
Yes. The Solo plan is built for single accountants managing up to 100 clients, with all the deadline, task and document features included.
Is PracticePA built for Pakistan? +
Yes. It is built around FBR and SECP obligations, works in Pakistani Rupees, and reflects how local firms actually operate.
Deadlines & Compliance
Which deadlines does PracticePA track? +
FBR obligations such as income tax returns, sales tax returns and withholding statements, plus SECP annual returns and statutory filings — calculated per client.
How are due dates calculated? +
You assign each client their obligations, and PracticePA works out the statutory due dates for you based on the Pakistani compliance calendar.
Will I be reminded before a deadline? +
Yes. Upcoming deadlines are surfaced on your dashboard and colour-coded — upcoming, due and overdue — so nothing slips past unnoticed.
Can I see every client’s deadlines in one view? +
Yes. A firm-wide deadline view shows what’s due across your entire client base, so you always know where to focus.
Does it handle both FBR and SECP? +
Yes. PracticePA covers FBR tax obligations and SECP company filings side by side, so you manage all statutory work in one system.
What happens when a deadline is overdue? +
Overdue items are flagged in red on the dashboard and in the client record so they can’t be missed and can be actioned immediately.
Can I add custom deadlines? +
Yes. Alongside the standard statutory dates you can add your own deadlines — engagement milestones, internal reviews or client-specific dates.
Does it adjust for different client types? +
Yes. Individuals, AOPs and companies each have their own obligations and due dates, and PracticePA reflects the right ones for each client.
Can I mark a filing as completed? +
Yes. Once you file, you mark the obligation complete and it drops off the active deadline list while remaining in the client’s history.
Can I plan a month ahead? +
Yes. You can look a week or a month ahead at what’s coming due, so work gets done early instead of at the wire.
FBR & SECP
Does PracticePA help with FBR compliance? +
Yes. It tracks FBR income tax, sales tax and withholding obligations for each client and calculates the statutory due dates automatically.
Does it track SECP annual returns? +
Yes. For registered companies, PracticePA tracks SECP annual returns and statutory filings alongside FBR obligations.
Can I record a client’s NTN and registration details? +
Yes. Each client record holds their key details such as NTN and registration information, kept securely against the client.
Does it file returns with FBR for me? +
No. PracticePA helps you track and organise every obligation, but filing is done through the relevant portal. It keeps you on schedule and audit-ready.
Can I handle sales tax return deadlines? +
Yes. Monthly sales tax return dates for registered clients are calculated and tracked so you never miss the filing window.
Does it cover withholding statement deadlines? +
Yes. Periodic withholding statement obligations are tracked per client alongside their other filings.
Can I manage company and individual clients together? +
Yes. Companies, AOPs and individuals live in the same system, each with the correct FBR and SECP obligations.
Does it keep a history of filings? +
Yes. Completed obligations remain in the client’s record, giving you an audit-ready history of what was filed and when.
Can I see which clients are behind on compliance? +
Yes. Overdue obligations are flagged clearly per client and across the firm so you can prioritise them.
Is the compliance calendar kept up to date? +
PracticePA is built around the Pakistani compliance calendar so the statutory dates it calculates reflect the obligations you handle.
Tasks & Team
How does task management work? +
Each deadline or piece of work becomes a task you can assign, track and complete — moving from to-do through in-progress to done on a single board.
Can I assign work to my staff? +
Yes. On Duo and Team plans you assign tasks to team members and see who is responsible for what at a glance.
Can I see my team’s workload? +
Yes. You can see the tasks assigned to each staff member so you can balance work and spot bottlenecks before they cause missed deadlines.
How many users can I have? +
Solo includes 1 user, Duo includes 2 and Team includes 5. You can add extra seats to any plan for Rs 6,000 each per year.
Can staff have different access levels? +
Yes. Access can be scoped by role so team members see and manage the areas relevant to their work.
Can more than one person work at once? +
Yes. PracticePA is multi-user and cloud-based, so your whole team can work in it at the same time from anywhere.
Can I track the status of every job? +
Yes. Every task carries a status, so you always know what’s outstanding, in progress or complete across the firm.
Does it help onboard a new client? +
Yes. When you add a client, their obligations and the associated tasks are set up together, so onboarding takes minutes rather than hours.
Can I reassign a task? +
Yes. Tasks can be reassigned between team members at any time as priorities and availability change.
Can I keep the firm working from one place? +
Yes. Deadlines, tasks and clients all live in one system, so the whole firm works from a single source of truth.
Clients & Documents
How does the document vault work? +
Each client has a secure document store where you keep CNICs, NTN certificates, incorporation papers, past returns and correspondence — searchable in seconds.
Is there a client portal? +
Yes. On Duo and Team plans clients get a secure login to upload documents and check the status of their filings, so you stop chasing them by email.
Can clients upload their own documents? +
Yes. Through the client portal, clients upload the documents you need directly into their record, saving you time and back-and-forth.
How many clients can I manage? +
Solo supports up to 100 clients, Duo up to 250, and Team is unlimited. You can upgrade as your firm grows.
Can I store notes against a client? +
Yes. You can keep notes and key details on each client record so your whole team has the context they need.
Are documents kept securely? +
Yes. Documents are encrypted, access-controlled and backed up automatically, so client records are protected.
Can I search across client documents? +
Yes. Documents are organised per client and searchable, so you can find what you need in seconds rather than digging through folders.
Can I see a client’s full history? +
Yes. Each client record holds their obligations, filings, tasks and documents, giving you a complete picture in one place.
Can I organise clients by type? +
Yes. Clients can be grouped by type — individual, AOP or company — which keeps your portfolio and their obligations easy to manage.
Does the client portal reduce email chasing? +
Yes. Clients see what’s needed and upload it themselves, so your team spends less time chasing documents.
Billing & Invoicing
Does PracticePA handle billing? +
Yes. The Team plan includes a billing module so you can raise professional invoices for your services and track what’s paid and outstanding.
Can I invoice my clients? +
Yes. You can create and send invoices to clients for your accounting and tax services directly from PracticePA.
Can I track unpaid invoices? +
Yes. Billing shows you what’s been paid and what’s outstanding, helping you keep your firm’s cash flow healthy.
Are invoices professional-looking? +
Yes. Invoices are clean and branded so they present your firm professionally to clients.
Which plan includes billing? +
The billing and invoicing module is included with the Team plan.
Can I see what a client owes? +
Yes. Outstanding amounts are visible against each client so you always know your receivables at a glance.
Can I record payments received? +
Yes. You can mark invoices as paid so your billing records stay accurate and up to date.
Can I bill for ad-hoc work? +
Yes. Alongside recurring compliance work you can invoice one-off jobs and advisory services.
Does billing live with the rest of my work? +
Yes. Because billing sits alongside your clients and tasks, raising an invoice for completed work is a click, not a separate program.
Are invoices in Pakistani Rupees? +
Yes. Invoicing is in PKR, matching how firms bill their clients locally.
